Meet the Member: HITGS’ VV Talks Acting Roots, Sweet Vocals, and Going Global
by Hasan Beyaz

To celebrate HITGS’s official debut, we caught up with each member individually.
First up is VV — a former actress and model whose elegance is only matched by her drive. Originally from China, she ranked first in her class in her arts high school’s acting entrance exam before making the leap into K-pop. Now, her blend of poise and vocal sweetness gives HITGS a subtle, cinematic glow.
KPOPWORLD: You’ve already had a career in acting and modelling. What made you take the leap into music, and what does singing give you that acting didn’t?
VV: I was inspired to become an idol after watching BLACKPINK’s Lisa sunbaenim perform. To me, singing on stage is another form of acting—it’s all about expressing something. So I don’t really see singing and acting as very different. Both are ways I can share emotions and stories.
You ranked first in your arts school’s acting exam. Do you ever bring that same level of preparation into your performances now?
VV: If anything, I think I practice even harder now because I want to give our fans the best performances possible. I hope you’ll continue watching and supporting me.
Although your vocals are described as sweet, how do you make sure they also sound powerful?
VV: To sing powerfully, I think it’s important to put more strength into the performance itself. Sweetness and power might seem like opposite traits, but I’m training hard to control dynamics delicately so that my voice can strike the right balance between both.
What’s the difference between performing as a character and performing as yourself?
VV: To really express the mood of a song, I pay extra attention to my facial expressions. Since performance involves both dance and expressions, I always practice in front of a mirror to make sure everything aligns with the concept.
Your journey began in China, now you’re debuting in Korea. Has that cross-border experience shaped your view of what kind of artist you want to become?
VV: I came to Korea with a dream of becoming an idol. Starting something new in a completely different environment, surrounded by new people, helped me become someone who’s not afraid of new challenges. I think that experience shaped me—and made me more ready for everything I’ll go through as a member of HITGS.
If you could write a soundtrack for your life so far, what would the title be?
VV: All the experiences and efforts I’ve had have led me to debut as a member of HITGS. That’s why I think the title “VV” fits perfectly—it represents my journey and my identity.
