MCND: Living the Dream

MCND (Music Creates New Dream) is a rising K-pop boy band formed by TOP Media, consisting of five members: Castle J, Bic, Minjae, Huijun, and Win. They made their debut in 2020 with the release of the EP Into the Ice Age, led by the single "Ice Age." Before officially debuting, the group had already gained attention with their pre-debut hip-hop track "Top Gang." MCND’s approach to promoting their music shifted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, making them one of the early adopters of virtual events like online fansigns and concerts, helping them stay connected with their fans. This adaptability has been a hallmark of their career from the start.
Throughout 2020, MCND's momentum continued with releases like the digital single "Spring" and the EP Earth Age, featuring the track "Nanana." Notably, their comeback showcases were innovative, incorporating AI hosts, which the group described as both awkward and exciting. These technological elements mirrored MCND’s futuristic style, and their first online concert, "MCND 1st On," became a cherished moment for the group. They expressed deep pride in their growth and ability to adapt, underscoring their passion for continuously developing both their vocal and performance skills during downtime between comebacks.

In 2021, MCND further solidified their presence with the release of their third EP MCND Age and the popular single "Crush," which Win called one of the group's signature songs. Their next EP, The Earth: Secret Mission Chapter.1, with the lead single "Movin'," expanded the group’s narrative, adding more depth to their artistic vision. By 2022, MCND embarked on their first European and American tours, marking a significant milestone in their international expansion. They capped off the year with their Asia tour and the release of their fifth EP, The Earth: Secret Mission Chapter.2, along with the single "#Mood."
As MCND gears up for the next phase of their career, their reflections during interviews offer a unique glimpse into the group’s mindset. Unlike many idols who offer polished responses, MCND's members share candid thoughts about their journey, ambitions, and the difficulties they’ve faced. Castle J, the leader, emphasized the importance of being genuine, while other members echoed similar sentiments about wanting to stay true to themselves, even if it sometimes makes them question their idol personas. Their honesty extends to acknowledging the challenges they’ve faced, particularly with the pandemic affecting their early promotional activities.

Their latest mini-album, X10, marks another bold step for MCND. Venturing into a country-style genre, the album represents their ambition to push boundaries while still showcasing their strengths in choreography and performance. This willingness to experiment with different musical styles, combined with their candid connection to fans, sets MCND apart. With each release, they aim to create unforgettable experiences for their fanbase while maintaining their down-to-earth charm. As they continue to grow, MCND’s determination to hit their target, both musically and personally, shines through their work.
