KATSEYE’s Sophia To Resume Group Activities in January 2027
by Isabel Miller

Sophia of KATSEYE has announced that she will resume group activities beginning the first week of January 2027, following a hiatus that began in August.
On August 7, HYBE x Geffen shared that Sophia will be “temporarily unable to participate” in the schedules planned for the group, including THE WILDWORLD TOUR. The company’s statement on Weverse reported that medical professionals had advised Sophia to take a period of rest, in order to prioritise her “health, safety, and long-term well-being.”
Two months on, an official update has been provided. A new notice details Sophia’s planned return date and expresses gratitude to fans, and an additional Instagram story uploaded by Sophia herself offers her own view of the hiatus. “I’ve learned so much about myself and what is truly best for my mind and body. Learning to care for myself, and continuing to do that work every day, is something I want to carry with me as I grow both as a person and as an artist,” her message reads.

She goes on to acknowledge the events that she will miss over the next two months; “It pains me deeply that I won’t be able to participate in the remainder of the tour this year [...] As much as I wish I could simply push through, I’ve come to understand that sometimes having the courage to take a step back is what allows you to move forward.” However, she also looks towards the future positively, expressing her hopes to return healthier and share the stage with the other members of KATSEYE again.
During Sophia’s hiatus, members Megan, Yoonchae, Lara and Daniela kicked-off THE WILDWORLD TOUR. September saw them performing across Europe for the first time, with shows in Dublin, London, Manchester, Paris, Amsterdam, Cologne, Antwerp, and Copenhagen. All stops were sold out despite it being KATSEYE’s first visit to each city. That feat showcases just how popular KATSEYE has become on a global scale, and in turn, how many fans have been eagerly awaiting Sophia’s return.
KATSEYE released their latest EP, WILD on August 14, also during Sophia’s hiatus, though she is featured in all promotional material and her voice is included within the songs. Its leading singles “Pinky Up” and “Animal” both saw major success and pushed KATSEYE further into the mainstream. In January, Sophia will return to a much greater level of popularity and finally be able to witness their growth in person.
Currently, no events or comebacks have been announced for the group for 2027. This means that fans do not yet know in what manner Sophia will return, but also promises that group activities have been planned for the beginning of next year.
