On August 19, JENNIE’s personal agency Odd Atelier announced that she will release a new EP in late August.

While no further information has been provided at present, the agency’s official statement confirms that “Jennie is spurring her comeback preparations with the goal of releasing a new EP at the end of August."

The announcement comes shortly after the release of the single “Less Than a Lover” on July 24, which marked JENNIE’s first comeback since the overwhelming success of Ruby in early 2025. The romantic, lo-fi single displayed a new side to the artist’s musical ability, approaching a dreamy, alternative pop sound, and was rewarded by charting at number one on iTunes in 27 regions. In China, it also became the only single by a female solo artist to earn a gold certification on QQ Music.

Since then, JENNIE has been promoting as a soloist at various major international festivals. She headlined The Governor’s Ball Festival in New York in June before moving to Europe in July for a series of appearances at Roskilde Festival in Denmark, Open’er Festival in Poland, and Mad Cool Festival in Spain.

At each event, JENNIE performed multiple new songs including “Less Than a Lover” and still yet to be released tracks “Fallen Angels” and “lockitdown.” Given the announcement of an EP following these previews, both songs are likely to be featured on the tracklist. The unveiling of new music at the festivals also indicates an international focus for the artist, beyond the aforementioned success of her recent single in China and wider Southeast Asia.

Throughout 2026 JENNIE has also been promoting as a member of BLACKPINK surrounding the release of the group mini album DEADLINE in February and their 10th anniversary in August. The release of solo music suggests that JENNIE is now returning to her career as a solo artist in place of these group activities, being the first BLACKPINK member to do so.
