By the time the five members of itsnotover were revealed, idntt had already spent the better part of a year building something big. MODHAUS – the Seoul-based label also behind tripleS and ARTMS – launched the group in stages: sub-unit unevermet in August 2025, yesweare in January 2026, and now itsnotover, whose five members bring the full idntt roster to 20. Four more new faces are still to come, bringing the full count to 24.
idntt – pronounced "identity" – is built on the idea that each of those members has something distinct: their own individual identity. During our conversation with kimdohun, leecheongmyeong, leekyuhyuk, choeunchan, yanggyungho, and namjiwoon ahead of their new album <itsnotover>, that premise unfolded in real-time: six people with very different stories, sitting in the same room, trying to explain what it feels like to belong to something this size.
jiwoon, the group's leader and eldest, started pursuing an idol career at 22 – late, by the standards of an industry that typically begins shaping its performers in early adolescence. dohun spent eight years as a trainee across multiple companies, came close to debuting more than once, and endured a period he describes as complete inactivity – lying at home, feeling lost – before finding his way to MODHAUS. eunchan came to the group with no formal dance or vocal training. kyuhyuk is fifteen.
What draws all of them together, at least on paper, is the album now in front of them. <itsnotover> opens with the explosive "Twenty" and is also home to the itsnotover unit track "It's Not Over" – a song about the warmth of a summer that feels too good to end. Between those two points, "Kids Return" represents this era as a title track rooted in a smooth groove; "Run It Up" hits harder with a Phonk edge. The remaining tracks move through experiences like the chaos of falling for something you can't control (“Lovestruck”) or the specific kind of beauty that only holds together because it's fragile (“Trainspotting”). The album closes on "Boys Gonna Dive" – a song about the will to get back up, no matter what.
For our latest Digital Cover, we talk in detail with kimdohun, leecheongmyeong, leekyuhyuk, choeunchan, yanggyungho, and namjiwoon about what they had to survive to get here, what this group demands of them, and what they are not willing to let go of.
1 “It’s good to see you again! We met in Korea at the photo shoot and now we can actually talk about your work, the group, and your thoughts about everything. I’m looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say about the group and the new music.”
idntt We’d like to introduce ourselves first, if that’s okay?
kimdohun Hello, my name is dohun! I’m the identity of idntt, id1 - kimdohun.
leecheongmyeong Hi, I am the mood boy of idntt - leecheongmyeong.
leekyuhyuk Hi, I’m the youngest member of idntt, id11 leekyuhyuk.
choeunchan Hi, I’m id20 choeunchan, the fourth dimensional charm of idntt.
yanggyungho Hello, I’m the positive energy of idntt, id19 yanggyungho.
namjiwoon Hi, I’m the oldest member and leader of idntt, lucky 7, namjiwoon.
namjiwoon idntt is a 24-member boy group where each member is on a journey to discover their own identity while growing. idntt is composed of three units: unevermet that debuted last August, yesweare that debuted this January, and itsnotover that will be making their debut soon. This way our final formation composed of 24 members is soon to be complete.
2 “We didn’t get to talk too much at the photo shoot, but how did you find that experience? What did you feel about the day of working together with us?”
namjiwoon First of all, I felt that the team led our members really well. We were guided to pose in ways that suited each of our individual vibes and brought out our unique charms. I’m really looking forward to the official release, because from what I saw on set, the pictures came out great. We are all very grateful for this opportunity.
choeunchan It was a stunning day for us, especially for the itsnotover members, because it was the first official activity that our unit participated in. It was a very special experience for me. We were actually very nervous before the day of the photoshoot, but everyone was so kind to us, so we were able to get over the nerves quite quickly.
3 “That’s good to hear. Why did you feel nervous?”
choeunchan As I mentioned, it was our very first photoshoot for our unit – everything was new so each member was very nervous.
4 “You guys didn’t seem nervous that day. You actually seem very confident, so I was really impressed and I think you did a really good job. Let’s talk about the group. idntt is currently 20 members, and this is still not the complete line-up. What’s the creative process like at that scale – what changes when you’re all together?”
kimdohun When we’re preparing for a comeback – recording the songs, practicing the choreography or shooting a music video – the overall process is not so different from other groups. If I were to pinpoint where things get different – we have a large number of members in the group, and since each member’s personality and charm has to shine during the performance, we focus a lot on the details, which is not the easiest thing to do. However, as we were trying to distill these details in our performance, it has become our forte, and something unique to idntt, which we are very proud of.
As there are so far twenty of us, just the members alone can form a mega crew. That alone gives our performance another level of dominance, gravitas if you will. When the twenty members dance in sync, share the same energy and power, it has a big impact on the public that watches us. I believe that it's a great strength of our team.
When it comes to our music videos, of course we have individual shoots that show who we are and what we represent, however there are going to be scenes where we’re playing certain characters. And it’s not only 6 or 7 of them, but 20 which makes these scenes so much more dynamic. Through that, I believe that our fans, or the public who happens to stumble upon our music videos, will notice that they have a strong narrative aspect and closely resemble a drama, or a movie.
5 “Is this something that the other members relate to?”
leecheongmyeong We each have very distinct personalities, and that naturally comes through in our work. Some members are especially good at expressing rawness or darker emotions, while others bring a brighter, more playful energy. Those different strengths come together to create a strong sense of synergy as a group.
On a practical level, it also really helps during long filming hours. It’s easy for energy to drop when you’re working for a long time, but because there are so many of us, we’re constantly able to lift each other up and keep the momentum going. That shared energy helps us stay motivated and maintain a high level of performance throughout despite the long hours.
6 “What does that look like as a team? How do you lift each other up? And how does it help your teamwork when you're going through these types of experiences?”
leecheongmyeong Personally speaking, I’m a quiet person, so when we’re on standby I usually just sit and relax. However, when the other members are waiting, they’re singing and dancing, and simply looking at them alone gives me energy.
7 “Yes, I noticed this at the studio. There are a lot of different dynamics and a lot of different personality types, of course, but then everybody came together and it created this really unique energy. So, it was really interesting to see and experience that. What does it feel like for you guys to be part of something that's so unique in the K-pop scene?”
kimdohun For me personally, each unit of idntt has a separate, distinct concept. There are idol groups who are dedicated to one concept for several years, but for us, since we have three units with unique concepts and we also have the chance to do activities as a full group, that alone widens our spectrum of what we are able to showcase and it makes me very proud. We also rely on each other a lot, so you feel less nervous when performing. It almost feels like I can multiply what I can do and show.
8 “Let's move on to some of the songs from the new album. “Twenty” opens the album, and the title also coincides with idntt taking the form of 20 members. What does it feel like to finally be this version of idntt?”
namjiwoon Even compared to the 15 member formation, the 20 member structure amplifies the grandeur of our performances. The scale alone is different and it makes me look forward to idntt’s performances once we are complete with 24 members. Going from 15 to 20 members also means there are more people on our team, people who support and help us. Knowing that there are so many people behind us, makes me want to work harder so that I could make them proud.
kimdohun Honestly speaking, when unevermet debuted, and then when we became 15 members, I was a little scared. I worried that with more people, my own abilities or role might feel more limited. But going through that experience with all 15 of us, I realized it wasn’t really a problem at all. Instead, I learned a lot about myself. And now, as we’re preparing for our comeback as 20 members, I feel like I’ve been able to understand myself even more – what I’m capable of, what I can contribute, and how I can grow.
Looking ahead to the full 24-member lineup, I’m really excited. Every time we add more members, it feels like a completely new journey. It always brings new challenges and new things to discover, and that’s something I’m genuinely looking forward to.
And yes, when I say I’m learning more about myself, I mean it in a self-discovery way. Working together with so many different people, collaborating and sharing the stage teaches you a lot, not just about yourself as a person, but also about performance and professionalism as a whole.
9 “I think that ties really nicely into the question I wanted to ask about the title track, “Kids Return”. The theme of “Kids Return” is returning stronger than ever. Through this comeback, what have you personally returned stronger as?”
leekyuhyuk When we were preparing for this comeback, there were a lot of moments that required testing my own limits. For example, moments during dance practice when I just couldn’t keep up. So in order to make up for it, I really put in a lot of effort and I definitely felt like I was discovering new limits within myself. I think what carried me through those moments is my effort and tenacity.
I am also only fifteen years old so I’m still growing – not only physically, but mentally and emotionally too.
10 “And for the other members, did you have similar or different experiences?”
kimdohun I've been the performance director in idntt ever since we debuted, but for this particular comeback as the number of members grew to 20 and it was my very first time working with this many people, I failed. The members filled the practice room to the brim and I couldn’t see them all. I struggled so much with directing that I wanted to give up, already assuming failure. But my passion and tenacity were almost burning me, and I realized that I need to try again. So I divided the group into different units, I would guide members one by one with certain steps, then we would practice all together matching the choreography as a group and the process repeated. It was very difficult since I’m only one person, but hearing our choreographers and teachers complementing the parts that I directed made me feel really proud of myself. So rather than thinking of directing as something that was difficult for me to do, I feel pride. I feel like I gained an eye for directing mega crew performances, and overall my directing skills seem to have improved while working on this comeback.
choeunchan I practiced very hard for this album, and through that process I learned what it means to take responsibility as part of a team. Watching dohun and jiwoon work so hard for the team taught me what kind of member I want to be. I also realized that every one of our 20 members has an important role and responsibility, and that each person’s efforts are essential for our team to continue growing.
11 “I agree. I think teamwork is really important and you guys seem to have developed good synergy. Let's move on to the next track. “Run It Up” is about taking on new challenges without hesitation. What's the biggest challenge you've pushed yourself to take on as part of this group?”
leecheongmyeong Just like you mentioned, “Run It Up” is a song about moving forward and trying new things without any hesitation. I have been thinking about what were some new challenges that I took upon as idntt member. A lot of our songs exude this feeling of freedom and rawness, but to be honest, it’s not the easiest task for me to express these emotions. So I thought that this comeback is the perfect occasion for me to challenge myself and try to express this rawness and free-spiritedness – including through performance or even facial expressions. I was studying how our industry seniors with a similar concept do their facial expressions, and I also watched face cams of our members. For example, I would watch dohun’s videos and take notes on how his facial expressions change depending on the moment of the song. I did quite a lot of research on how to express that rawness, which I would consider the biggest challenge of this comeback preparation.
choeunchan To be honest, working on “Run It Up” itself has been the biggest challenge of my life. I became interested in being an idol out of nowhere during my school days, when all I ever did was study. I suddenly stood face to face with my dream that had been, up until that moment, hidden within me. Naturally, I never took dancing or singing classes, and to be honest, I myself didn’t really believe I had the talent. So at the very beginning, I struggled a lot – because I simply didn’t think I could do it well.
I was actually a trainee in multiple companies for very short periods of time before joining MODHAUS, and during that time my self-esteem suffered quite a bit. But after coming here, I met a lot of great people, especially our members who take good care of me and lend a helping hand whenever I need it. Particularly, our itsnotover members, as our trainee period overlapped, we went through all the trials and tribulations together and we are able to make the dream of debuting come true.
12 “Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry that you had those feelings about yourself beforehand, but I'm glad that with idntt you could find an environment that you enjoy working in. “Lovestruck” is about love, addiction, and obsession. What's something about being in idntt that you love, can't quit, or can't stop thinking about?”
leekyuhyuk Before I joined this team, I didn’t have anything that I was truly passionate about. But after becoming part of idntt, I started listening to many different genres of music and I realized how much I love music. Recently, I’ve become interested in indie bands because I find their songs healing. And I would also like to make music that can comfort people in the same way.
choeunchan Recently, I've been thinking a lot about how I can become a better version of myself in the eyes of our members and fans. Since joining the team, I've started paying much more attention to my dancing, singing, and even my appearance.
When I was a trainee, I usually dressed very comfortably, like wearing sportswear, because there wasn't anyone in particular I wanted to impress. But after joining idntt, I became more interested in fashion. Now I enjoy finding nice clothes, buying them, and putting together outfits.
One more thing - I think this is the most important part - is that I've come to admire our members even more. Working together has allowed me to see all of their strengths up close, and every one of them is a stunning person in my eyes. I could say I got “lovestruck”.
13 “Trainspotting” captures the beauty and fragility of youth. What feels most precious to you about this time in your life?”
leecheongmyeong I never really thought that I would be able to experience receiving and giving so much love in my lifetime, but after becoming a member of idntt, I am not only receiving so much love from fans, but I am also able to give it back. It feels like this is what youth is really about.
Before joining the group, I never had a moment of reflection where I looked at my life and thought “Wow, this is youth”, but after joining idntt I started having these experiences, and maybe due to this my affection towards the members just keeps growing. I want to gather as many happy memories as possible.
To the fans who love me unconditionally, I really hope that our relationship can become one where we have a positive influence on each other. I will love you even more and make sure that you make only the happiest memories with us.
I think this moment right now is the most precious moment of my life.
yanggyungho There are times when I really feel how precious this moment is. As those feelings build up, I’ve learned to enjoy each moment as it is and hold on to those memories. Looking back on them sometimes brings me positive energy, and that energy pushes me to keep working harder and moving forward.
With “Trainspotting” as well, I remember simply enjoying the process for what it was and working on it with happiness.
namjiwoon Just like cheongmyeong said, I think this moment right now, every single day, is precious. In a way this job, being an idol, also coincides with the brightest days of your youth and is also the time where you can show people everything you want. I think it’s a blessing that I get to spend my youth doing the job I’ve always dreamed of. That’s why, to me, this moment right now feels the most precious.
14 “It's Not Over” is the itsnotover unit track, and has a very different feeling from the rest of the album – how do you describe that feeling?”
yanggyungho I have so many memories of going away with my friends during the summer holidays when I was in elementary and middle school. We would go to a summer house, next to a stream or a beach, and stay there for a couple of days. Now when I think about it, the smell of summer comes back to me immediately, I can almost physically feel the pure and innocent atmosphere of that moment and I believe “It’s Not Over” captures that fleeting summer-boy sentiment really well.
We filmed the music video for “It’s Not Over” on Jeju Island, in a beautiful green meadow that resembles a secret place that only you and your friends go to when you need a getaway. The music video shows us running around and joking together, almost as if the director secretly captured us in those natural moments. I think the song really reflects our distinctive energy well, and I hope you’ll look forward to it.
choeunchan “It’s Not Over” is exactly the type of song I dreamed of performing when I was pursuing the idol career, so I personally really like this track. The music video is also quite different, since we focused mostly on encapsulating the visuals of the place, the real connection between the members, rather than the performance aspect such as the choreography. You know how people say that nothing’s eternal? I used to think that too, but the memories of filming the music video on Jeju made such a strong impression on me that I thought that these memories will live with me forever and they will make me feel forever young.
15 “Is there a specific reason for you wanting to have that feeling?”
choeunchan I believe that memories like that really represent the most beautiful days of our lives. This moment was really special to me and I would like to live with it by my side.
16 “Boys Gonna Dive” is about a fearless attitude toward wounds and failure – the will to survive until the very end. What's something you've had to survive to get here?”
namjiwoon To get where I am right now, there were 4 major instances where it felt like I really had to challenge myself. First of all, I used to be a normal student who had only dreamed of becoming an idol, and whether I should pursue that path was a big dilemma, because I was scared of failure and challenging myself.
However, music was really calling me, so I overcame that mindset and decided to take upon this challenge. Music aside, when I decided to pursue the idol career at 22 I was already quite old, and something that I definitely didn’t want to do was to depend on my parents financially. So in order to go after my dream, I ended up doing many part-time jobs; I worked at a cafe, a car wash, izakaya and even wedding halls. I would work so much that my day consisted of part-time work schedules. I believe that this period of time was also something that I eventually had to overcome.
An opportunity of appearing on a survival show suddenly came up, and that was also a big challenge because I possessed virtually no knowledge about how these programs operate. I ended up being eliminated from the show, and to be honest at that time I thought of that survival program as my last chance to be able to debut. After the elimination, I spent a lot of time pondering how I should spend the rest of my life and I consider that period a time of struggle that I had to push through.
And so I did overcome these challenges four times, and now I’m able to meet my fans as idntt’s id7 namjiwoon - I’m extremely thankful and happy about that.
Back when I was working part-time jobs, I was actually making a lot of money, enough to make people think, “You can earn that much from part-time work?” But even then, I wasn’t happy. The moments when I truly felt happy were when I was making music – whether it was with my friends, my university colleagues, or just the people around me. No matter how much money came into my bank account, it never gave me that feeling. Of course, working with people I liked and respected did bring me happiness too, but it was a different kind of happiness.
It was during those part-time job days that I realized music was what I genuinely loved and what I wanted to keep pursuing in the future. That realization gave me the strength to push through and overcome the challenges I was facing.
17 “I am curious to learn what you discovered about yourself during that time? What did that process feel like for you?”
namjiwoon What I just shared was a little bit serious, so let me brighten up the mood a little bit. I worked a lot at Korean BBQ restaurants, where I learned how to grill meat very well. So now, when we go eat BBQ, it’s me who grills the food.
Through my part-time jobs I met plenty of people, which helped me learn how to communicate with them more efficiently, read their emotions…
But speaking of what I learned about myself, since I’ve tried so many different jobs, I feel like you can throw me in anywhere and I will be able to adapt just fine. I’ve experienced a lot of different things in life, so I feel like no matter where you throw me, I won’t just freeze or stay stagnant. I’ll find a way to move forward. I believe I’ve learned how to adapt and keep going, and even now, I’m still adapting and growing as I move ahead.
18 “This was really interesting to hear! Do the other members relate to this at all?”
kimdohun I am not sure if this is a similar experience, but I would also like to answer this question about overcoming and surviving. Before debuting in idntt I had been a trainee for 8 years, which were followed by a year when I wasn’t active at all. That period of inactivity was a major moment of my life which eventually I had to endure and overcome.
I had been a trainee at many different companies, and had many opportunities to debut. The last one was when I was almost guaranteed to debut, but suddenly I was dropped – it was a huge blow to me.
When I look back on my life, I think about all the time and effort I’ve put in since such a young age, and how I kept holding on with tenacity. But along the way, I went through a lot of difficult experiences, I met bad people. At some point, I started to wonder, “Even if I keep going, maybe this just isn’t meant for me. No matter how hard I try, it’s just not working out, so maybe this isn’t my fate”.
I am usually a person with a positive attitude, but around that time there were moments when I felt like giving up on everything. I thought about doing different part-time jobs instead, and for a while, I tried to convince myself I could live like that. So I tried some part-time jobs, but I realized that mentally I just couldn’t do it. There were even months where I did nothing – I was just lying down, doing absolutely nothing, just feeling lost, not really knowing what I was doing or where I was headed.
At that time, I was living with my older brother, and the people who had known me for years told me, “You’ve spent so much time and effort on this. Why not try just one last time? It would be a shame if you stopped here. You being at home like that is becoming quite dangerous”. Hearing that made me realize that if I gave up there, all of that time and effort would feel wasted.
Looking back, that was a really dark and difficult period for me. But at the same time, I think it was the moment I truly built grit. Before that, my goal was never just to debut – my dreams were always about what would come after debut. But during that time, the debut itself became my only focus.
That was around the time I heard that MODHAUS was forming a new boy group. At first, I didn’t think too much about it. But as I looked into it more, I realized it was something unique, and I decided to give it my best. That became a new challenge for me.
As a trainee, every day is a process of overcoming and working hard. But I’m a simple person, I’ve always had this optimism that tells me, “I’ll make it somehow”. Except for that one year. During that year, I lost that belief. Everything felt dark, and it became a period I truly had to endure and overcome. But in the end, I did.
And I think that period became a time of self-discovery for me. As a trainee, you spend so much time doing exactly what you’re told, almost like a robot. That’s part of training. But during that period of inactivity, I started to realize that what I had always been told wasn’t necessarily the only answer.
Yes, I met bad people during that time, but I also met great people. I followed them, learned from them, and through that process, I started asking myself: What am I actually good at? What do I really like?
Before, when I was on stage or performing, everything felt calculated. But now, I see it more as art. That period gave me the chance to grow and evolve. Before, I only knew how to do what I was told. Now, I have my own thoughts, my own perspective, and a clearer sense of the path I want to take.
Through all of that, I’ve come to understand myself more. Sometimes I realize, “Oh, this is the kind of person I am. This is what I like. This is the path I want to follow”.
19 “Is there something you tried as part of idntt that you never would have done on your own?”
leekyuhyuk After joining idntt, I am now able to contribute more proactively to things across various areas, such as expressing my opinions during the rehearsal process.
choeunchan I don’t think I would be thinking about my identity if I were not an idntt member. The large number of members is our group’s distinctive characteristic. Since there are so many members, I had to find my own identity – who I am and what I’m good at – to learn how to collaborate with our members and to build chemistry between us. This made me think about the relationship between us and also between us and our fans.
For example, I was a very extroverted person before I joined the group. But working with 19 people made me kinda overwhelmed at first. However, while working together, I was able to learn how to interact with people in such a large community, and by maintaining positive and fun relationships with so many diverse individuals, I believe I am ultimately able to show a better side of myself to the fans. This is also something I will continue working on in the future.
20 “For Eunchan and Kyungho – what's something about idntt's world that surprised you once you were actually inside it?”
yanggyungho I joined the company through the audition process, and for my audition I actually performed idntt’s “BOYtude”. It was a couple of weeks before yesweare was set to debut. Before joining the group, I watched many videos of the members, extensively listened to their songs. I did a lot of research while practicing. So when I actually became part of the debut lineup the members were truly like celebrities to me. However, as we were preparing for the album, we had a lot of personal conversations and they took such great care of me, so right now it feels like I have found myself 19 reliable friends.
21 “And for the other members – what do itsnotover members bring to idntt that you didn't know you needed?”
namjiwoon I think that with itsnotover, our team has gained even more charm and a new energy that can bring laughter and strength to people. Even though there are difficult moments, or times when we’re exhausted, when I’m together with the itsnotover members, I find myself laughing out of nowhere – simply due to talking with them, joking around or looking at them. I have a lot of memories of gaining strength from interacting with them. Please look forward to itsnotover!
leekyuhyuk choeunchan has this charm that makes you curious about him, a kind of charm that makes you want to get to know him more, while yanggyungho has a really fun and lovable charm that makes you want to look after him. And it’s not just them. The other members of itsnotover each have their own unique charms as well, and I hope everyone can discover those new sides of them together with us.
22 “To wrap things up, let's move to the final question. idntt means “identity” – what's one thing about you personally that you hope will always be part of your identity?”
kimdohun What matters most to me is staying passionate and sincere in everything I do and everything I believe in at every moment of my life. As a member of idntt, whether through music, performance, or simply as kimdohun as a person, I want to keep growing while holding on to that mindset.
yanggyungho For me, I think it’s my body and my health. I believe it’s important to stay healthy in order to have a strong sense of identity and to preserve it. In a way, this group’s journey is also a journey with our fans toward self-discovery and finding our own identities. That’s why I want to stay healthy, so I can continue walking that path together with them.
leecheongmyeong If there’s one thing I want to preserve, it’s the mindset of never taking anything for granted. Even the love I receive from so many people is something I never want to see as normal or expected. I want to always stay grateful for it and become someone who can truly give that love back.
namjiwoon For me, as the eldest member of idntt as well as the leader, I always want to protect the sense of responsibility that is within me. Being in a team of 24 members is not an easy challenge, but I am determined to take it upon myself, bring out the best qualities in the members, and make it a great team. I want to be a great example for them as the eldest member and leader, that’s why I think highly of the sense of responsibility. Hasan, please make sure to look forward to us!
