i-dle’s MIYEON Pursues Acting with New Lead Role and Profile Photos

by Isabel Miller

MIYEON of i-dle has shared a series of new profile images on social media, alongside the announcement of her casting in a lead role as an actress.

Each image series sees MIYEON against a blank background as she showcases different sides to her visuals, from a casual shirt and jeans to mature black and white to a dainty white dress. These emphasise her versatility, leaning into a new path taking on various acting roles.

Alongside these profile images comes confirmation that MIYEON intends to pursue projects as an individual, outside of her musical pursuits as a member of i-dle. MIYEON has pursued acting in the past, participating in several television dramas in 2021, but has only appeared in guest or cameo roles ever since. Back then, she displayed potential as an actress in several genres; she played a supporting role in the romance drama Her Bucket List and lead roles in sci-fi action show Delivery and teen rom-com Adult Trainee.

Five years on, she returns to acting as one of the leads in the new drama Cheongdam International High School: Royal Camp, slated to air in 2027. The teen psychological thriller is a spin-off of BITCH X RICH, a thriller/crime drama released in 2023. It will follow transfer students who compete for admission, being judged by current students. MIYEON will play Cha Se-Mi, the daughter of the influential Taehan Group family and the school’s new queen as her position is threatened by the arrivals. The role will present a different, almost villainous side to MIYEON, who did not play any characters like this in her previous projects.

As a collective, i-dle concluded their World Tour [SYNCOPATION] in August. Since then, leader SOYEON has pursued her own solo endeavours with the release of What a Wonderful Life on September 7 and subsequent music show appearances. YUQI followed suit with the EP 27 on October 8 and has scheduled a series of solo fan concerts across China. MIYEON released the single “RUN AWAY” in August – now, it seems that she is ready to add acting to the list of her solo activities.

Each activity builds on the individual pursuits already previously established by the members, with SOYEON’s reputation as a songwriter-producer, YUQI’s popularity in China as a variety show host, and MIYEON’s acting credits. This indicates that each path has been intentionally sought out over the years and may become recurring endeavours as i-dle’s group activities continue in the future.

An official release date has not yet been announced, but Cheongdam International High School: Royal Camp starring MIYEON is slated to air in 2027.
