Fan Spotlight: “2019 FELT SPECIAL” by Normal Smasher

Can you believe 2019 was already five years ago now?? Where has the time gone? It’s wild to look back and see how much has changed in K-pop within the past half-decade. Back then, there was no pandemic, BTS had only just begun the international dominance that would define the next few years, and music was good. Ok, so that last one is still true today, but there were seriously so many great songs that came out in 2019, and there’s no better way to remember those songs than a mega-mashup of 127 of them!

 

If you haven’t seen Normal Smasher’s K-pop mashups before, you really ought to. The level of detail and cohesion they work into each video is incredible, and nothing proves that more than the end-of-year mashups. One can’t even begin to imagine how much work went into this, and it’s an incredible feat of fandom and perseverance. Although Normal Smasher has since stepped away from these kinds of videos, we still have to commend them for setting the bar impossibly high for the rest of us.
