DAY6’s Sungjin showcases a sense of nostalgia in concept photos for ‘30’

DAY6 by JYP Entertainment is one of the most promising pop/rock bands of recent times. The members are prolific with their talents. It is nothing short of a musical symphony comes to life when DAY6 takes the stage. DAY6 members - Sungjin, Young K, Wonpil, and Dowoon - have made notable contributions with their songwriting. Besides Sungjin, all other members have made a solo debut. But the wait is long over now! DAY6’s leader Sungjin is making a solo debut in November 2024. 

Last week, we received the tracklist for the album. This week, the concept photos have begun streaming in! In the two versions, “Day” and “Evening,” we get two photos each. In the “Day” version, we see Sungjin on a train. In the first photo, we see an indoor setting where he is sitting with his legs up and facing the camera. He also has a guitar lying on the side. In the next, the photo is taken from the outside and Sungjin is seen wearing earphones as he looks ahead in the carriage. In these photos, he is wearing a casual outfit of a white undershirt and a black sweater over it. It seems like he is heading for a vacation to the countryside.

In the “Evening” version, we see Sungjin in a train once again, but it looks like a subway with sealed-closed windows. In both photos, Sungjin is looking straight at the camera with a somewhat tired and serious expression. He is wearing a formal suit, so we can assume that he is traveling to and from a workplace.

Considering the title of the album 30, one can assume that the album will be for the struggles of being 30 or in the 30s. Sungjin, who is 31 now, might borrow from his personal experiences to write about the age that is often shadowed by the raging 20s and the confused 40s.
