Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “You Were Beautiful” by DAY6

Effortlessly blurring the lines between K-pop and contemporary soft rock, this song by DAY6 feels like a mix between The Fray and early Maroon 5. Despite the chugging electric guitar in the verse and the rolling distorted guitar in the chorus, the band isn’t afraid to lean into extended harmony. The piano in the verses is lush and full, betraying jazz and soul roots. This song is fantastic.
