Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Tiramisu Cake” by We Are The Night

A laid back, mid tempo indie pop/rock jam, “Tiramisu Cake” is too smooth to be written and released by a group called We Are The Night (which easily could be the name of a death metal group). This song is as sugary sweet as its namesake.

It opens with blippy synths and tight, flat beats courtesy of a drum machine. The vocals are a beautiful blue tenor: lots of depth with a vivid blend of melancholy. The bass line is wonderfully simple and well executed. In fact, everything in this song’s arrangement (right down to the excellent auxiliary percussion) serves the earworm melody that hits you like a sledgehammer in the chorus. It’s one of those melodies that’s so catchy it’s going to leave a mark and stick with you for days.

Tiramisu Cake. Tiramisu Cake.

Tiramisu Cake. Tiramisu Cake.

If you know you know.
