Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Timeless” by Drunken Tiger
By Drunken Tiger

The controversial South Korean hip-hop duo Drunken Tiger signed a record deal in 1998 and left a permanent mark on the Korean hip-hop scene, with national performances and tours on the back of 1999’s runaway hit record, Return of the Tiger. While troubles with narcotics would prevent the duo (composed of Tiger JK and DJ Shine) from appearing on Korean TV for 2 years and ultimately lead to the departure of DJ Shine, this didn’t entirely kill their momentum.
Instead, Tiger JK continued releasing records under the group’s original name, culminating in the final Drunken Tiger record, 2018’s Drunken Tiger X: Rebirth of Tiger JK. Today’s pick is that album’s breakout hit, featuring fantastic turntable work, breakbeats, and an absolutely ravenous feature from BTS superstar RM.
