Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Event Horizon” by Jambinai
By Jambinai

Ever wonder what it would feel like to be on the edge of an earth-shattering, universe-ending event? What level of intensity would you feel right at that moment? Well it might be something like Jambinai’s “Event Horizon.” If you’ve never heard of the group, they blend epic, cinematic rock stylings with more classically Korean instruments, leading to a sound that is truly bombastic.
The group has few songs quite as intense as “Event Horizon.” The song could be hard to listen to for some, as the first minute is just a slog of guitar and drums with wailing haegum overtop. It’s fitting of the title, and gives way to a quieter section that feels like the calm after the storm. However, that calm is not to last, and the drums indicate a return to intensity that is immensely satisfying for anyone who likes heavier emotional moments. Just because it’s instrumental doesn’t mean this is music for the lighthearted!
