Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Cynical” by Silly Silky

Today’s pick is another track that could technically be considered K-pop, but is outside of the public eye just enough that we think it qualifies here. (Think of today as an ‘underground’ pick instead of non-K-pop.) Today we look at Silly Silky and her track “Cynical” from her mixtape earlier this year. It’s no secret that we here at KPOPWORLD are big fans of her work, and we’re just waiting for her to finally get the attention she deserves!
“Cynical” is a groovy, laid back piece with enough smoothness to make you think you were on a freshly paved road. If you like groups like Magdelena Bay or even some of the more R&B inspired side of Charli XCX, you’ll like this song. The vocals are breathy and floaty, but they never distract from the overall vibes of the track. There’s cool moments with synth percussion, silly little keys lines, and an absolutely vicious bass holding everything down. Seriously, this track is just a good time all around.
