Daily Non-K-Pop Spotlight: “Blow Spring Breeze” by Kim Jung Mi

If you’re familiar at all with legendary Korean singer Kim Jung Mi, you probably are aware of her equally legendary song “Haenim.” The song has established itself as one of the great classics of Korean history, thanks in part to it coming from famed musician Shin Joong Hyun. It absolutely deserves the longevity and success it has seen over the last few decades. However, Now, the album that “Haenim” comes from has so many other little gems, including “Blow Spring Breeze.”

The track is a brisk 1:35 but is a pleasant little ditty that sort of bounces along until the inevitable fade out arrives (truly a classic tool of its day). From the recording to the instrumentation, every part of this song feels like an era long gone. It’s admittedly not the most serious of tunes, but it still showcases the genius this crew of musicians held back in the day. The entire album is full of incredible tracks that deserve so much more attention, and we hope that even this small bit of history will help new fans find their way to the rest of Kim Jung Mi’s incredible discography.
