CORTIS Becomes Quadruple Million-Seller With ‘GREENGREEN’

by Isabel Miller

Data from Circle Chart for September 6 to 12, 2026 revealed that CORTIS’ second mini album GREENGREEN has surpassed 4.1 million copies.

The figure, combining both physical and digital sales, makes CORTIS the second group to sell over four million copies of an album released in South Korea in 2026 – following BTS with the reunion album ARIRANG. This is a first time achievement for CORTIS, who only debuted last year and can now call themselves part of the quadruple million-seller club.

When GREENGREEN was released in May, initial sales immediately showcased the rookie group’s rapid growth in popularity. With over 1.1 million first day sales and 2.3 million first week sales according to Hanteo, the album was already a double million-seller with 2.5 million copies sold before the month’s end. Those figures blew even the impressive 620,000 first month sales of their debut EP, COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES, out of the water.

What is unique about CORTIS is that sales figures for GREENGREEN have not slowed down. While all releases see a drop-off in numbers after the first few days, CORTIS has displayed a remarkable longevity and are still breaking records four months on. BTS’ ARIRANG, for example, almost passed the four million mark in 24 hours, but has only increased by approximately one million in the six months since. The announcement of 4.1 million total sales therefore is not only a significant achievement for the group as artists – and especially as rookies – but defies standard industry patterns.

The achievement has been in part spurred by CORTIS’ distinct sound and style. Their Western-inspired hip-hop approach for the title track “REDRED” alongside B-sides like “YoungCreatorCrew” and “ACAI” are loud and catchy, and have found a place within social media trends and on global playlists. It is also the result of unconventional physical sales methods; versions of GREENGREEN went beyond the standard photobook format to a merchandise-style range with inclusions such as a lip balm, dice, and ball, making them stand out and encouraging fans to purchase multiple different albums.

CORTIS has recently wrapped their first headlining tour, the 2026 CORTIS TOUR <PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN>, which took the five members across South Korea, North America, and Japan. All seven of their North American shows sold out minutes after they went on sale. Additionally, last weekend they made their European debut at Music Bank in Barcelona. These performances are likely to have boosted CORTIS’ popularity as they begin to make appearances worldwide and drive in-person support, which is also in turn reflected in increased sales.

With activities still underway – including the promotion of an expanded version of GREENGREEN in Japan through a new digital campaign – sales figures are likely to increase as CORTIS continues to make their mark on the industry.
