JUN, CHANYEOL, CRAVITY & MORE
Read on for our picks of the week.
By Chyenne Tatum
Musically, this week’s K-pop releases heavily rely on addictive grooves and exuberant energy to capture listeners. From inspirational dance tracks from SEVENTEEN’s JUN and XngHan&Xoul to the fantastical, electronic edge from CRAVITY, the urge to get up and dance has never been more intense. Similarly, girl group WOOAH side-steps the usual spooky-season set-up for another summer-inspired explosion of energy, while EXO’s CHANYEOL taps into a more retro vibe with equal bite.
JUN - “9”
Three years after his last major solo release in 2023 with “PSYCHO,” SEVENTEEN member JUN is back with his first Chinese digital EP, 9. Inspired by the Chinese folk legend of the Nine-Tailed Cat Spirit — which gains nine tails through cultivation until it reaches immortality — the album’s eponymous title track is an explosive pop song with a message of facing one’s dreams without hesitation. With a funky, retro groove mirroring some of Michael Jackson’s signature style, the song is determined to make the listener not just feel the beat but act on it. Whether it’s expressing the art of movement through dance or feeling inspired to reach one’s dreams, “9” might just be JUN at his very best.
CHANYEOL - “Infinity”
After making his Japanese debut in 2025 with Habi, EXO’s CHANYEOL has returned with his second Japanese EP, TABI. While its title track, “Song For You,” is an intense rock-driven anthem, there’s a B-side called “Infinity” that also deserves the spotlight. Described as a retro-inspired number, the track enhances TABI with its nostalgic groove and an irresistible hook that grabs the listener’s attention and doesn’t let go until they’ve fully surrendered to its melody. While the song is more dance-oriented, that doesn’t mean it completely foregoes CHANYEOL’s signature rock-influenced sound, with a funky guitar solo in the bridge that ties it all together. Whether you’re already a fan of the singer’s work or not, “Infinity” and the album as a whole are definitely worth checking out.
CRAVITY - “LOUDER”
Releasing their second Korean EP of 2026, nine-member boy group CRAVITY has entered their fantasy era with sonorous and its lead single, “LOUDER.” Described as an electronic-dance track with a dreamy yet dark mood, “LOUDER” lives up to its name in more ways than one. With a fiery energy, rough synths, and a relentless drum pattern, the song is both sonically and atmospherically robust — there’s not a single moment that isn’t filled with ear candy. From the richness of the members’ vocals to the effortless rap deliveries, “LOUDER” is firing off on all cylinders and doesn’t let up for a second. And best of all, it actually reaches the three-minute mark and does so with perfection.
XngHan&Xoul - “HIGH BEAM”
Following his explosive dance anthem, “Glow,” earlier this year, K-pop artist XngHan&Xoul has officially made his Japanese debut with “High Beam.” Compared to the vivacious pop-house sound of his last Korean release, “High Beam” could be considered the cool-down, exuding a much more laid-back atmosphere but still maintaining an edge. Sonically, the track is a mid-tempo R&B number, relying on lush synth sounds, layered vocal harmonies, and a funky guitar/bass combo that elevates the entire experience. Lyrically, the message encourages listeners to live boldly and work towards their dreams rather than focus on the past — every day is a new start and opportunity for growth. If there’s one inspirational song to get your day started, this is the one.
WOOAH - “VOODOO DOLL”
After their latest summer release in July with Wish With W: Vol 3, five-member girl group WOOAH is kicking off the fourth installment of their series with “VOODOO DOLL.” Acting as the centerpiece of the quintet’s new project single, Wish With W: Vol 4, “VOODOO DOLL” is nothing like what you’d expect from its title. With the fall season now in full effect and many people prepping for Halloween, one would assume “VOODOO DOLL” would be a spooky, mysterious concept. But instead, the group has opted for the complete opposite, contradicting the song’s title with a preppy dance-pop number usually associated with summer. With the production boosted by its energetic house beat, the track is vibrant from start to finish and the ultimate personification of brightness and color. For those who would rather stay in a warm, summer state of mind, “VOODOO DOLL” does just the trick.
