BTS's V Earns Platinum Certification in Japan with Solo Album "Layover"


Kim Taehyung, also known as V of BTS, continues to captivate the global music scene, recently achieving a significant milestone in Japan with his solo album Layover. On October 10, Taehyung's debut solo project was awarded Platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for surpassing 250,000 copies in cumulative shipments in Japan alone.

Layover, released on September 8, 2023, made an impressive debut, quickly climbing to the top of Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking chart. On the day of its release, the album sold 221,491 copies, cementing V’s strong presence as a solo artist in the Japanese market. According to the Oricon Annual Ranking 2023, Layover secured the 16th spot on the Album Ranking, with a total of 247,826 copies sold. This achievement marked the highest-ranking position for a K-pop solo artist in Japan for the year, further showcasing V's popularity and influence across borders.
