BDC lays its legacy to rest with “Rest”

By Nandini Iyengar

BDC was a K-pop boy trio formed under rapper Rhymer’s label Brand New Music. The trio consisted of members Kim Si-hun, Hong Seong-jun, and Yun Jung-hwan. BDC began its pre-debut activities in 2019 and made its official debut in 2020. The trio continued its activities for about two more years after that. In August 2023, BDC announced that it would be halting its activities with Brand New Music. As a final farewell to its fans, BDC released a mellow number “Rest.”

For its final song “Rest”, BDC released a set of lyrics teaser photos. Each photo contained a line from the song written by a member. The background image of the photos is a serene still-life nature photo. In one photo, we see a vast ocean with a cast of thick gray clouds. On the horizon, there is a thin orange line telling us that the sun has just set. In another photo, we see a winter sky where the trees have long shed their leaves and the playful sun is just bidding its goodbye, leaving behind a beautiful blend colors across the sky. In the final photo, we see a grassy land under a bright orange sky. The grass is green-golden and the sun is about to set too. There is also another photo that features a snippet of the musical note from the song. A fantastical image of a moon in a purple sky with pink clouds.

For a farewell song that speaks volumes, the concept photos for “Rest” show a deep emotional connection as well. We do not see the members in the concept photos. The makers smartly incorporated the photos of twilight, to signify that the time has come.
