Enjoy the fall with these autumn-themed K-pop tracks

As the month of October is coming to an end, much of the world is preparing for various fall festivals. To those who enjoy nature a little more than the rest, it also means autumn is coming to an end and making way for winter. The season of fall is often associated with mellow feelings like heartbreak, separation, melancholia and ‘what-ifs’. It is a season that calls for ballads and slow RnB tracks. Autumn is mellow, but a right playlist will help you get over the sullen mood right away. Let’s take a look at some autumn-themed K-pop tracks.

1. BTS - Autumn Leaves

BTS’ songs have been a hit no matter the genre. From stunning title tracks to soft B-sides, BTS has proven their versatility across genres. BTS’ “Autumn Leaves” is a heartbreak ballad through and through. The members stick to their signature styles as they sing about a love that is gone but its memories remain. 

2. IU - Autumn Morning

You talk about ballads and not talk about IU? Impossible. IU’s “Autumn Morning” encapsulates the slowly rising but energetic morning of an autumn day. The children head to school, their mothers prepare for the day, shops wake up from a deep slumber and the roads are scantily sprinkled with cars. IU talks about the tiny most intricacies of autumn - like water changing its taste - and brings us a song that transports us to the autumn morning regardless of the time the song is played. Her playfully innocent vocals enliven the heartfelt lyrics. 

3. AKMU - Time and Fallen Leaves

Akdong Musicians aka AKMU is a sibling duo that has been delivering memorable music for over a decade now. AKMU’s track “Time and Fallen Leaves” is a soft and smoothly woven ballad about the innermost feelings that hit a person at their most unaware. The song talks about the feeling of loneliness that comes with a wave of past memories. “Time and Fallen Leaves” is a track that carries with it the scent of autumn with each rising and falling note. 

4. K.Will - Hello, Autumn

Can we just crown K.Will as one of the maestros of ballad tracks? Any autumn or ballad (or both) playlist is incomplete without K.Will’s tracks. “Hello, Autumn” is K.Will’s song where he reminisces about a love that was too young to sustain the hardships. The song is high on nostalgia and melancholy as K.Will sings about the bittersweet memories and feelings. 

5. Stray Kids - Hoodie Season

With “Hoodie Season”, Stray Kids narrated what everyone’s mind feels during the autumn season. We all look forward to looking smart, brooding and interesting after wearing a nice hoodie, cargo pants and putting on our earphones and maybe a beanie and gloves too. A walk in this outfit brings a change to one’s mood, or so the youth feels. Autumn is a season of change, a season of transition and Stray Kids sing about this feeling of transitioning in life and changing from within by likening it to the change of seasons.  

6. EXO CBX - Rhythm After Summer

Who said autumn tracks have to be only sad and mellow? EXO CBX brought a refreshing dance number “Rhythm After Summer” and turned the tables. The song talks about a change in one’s life after meeting one’s loved one. Like the wind changes its ways and the leaves change their colors after summer, the protagonist, too has noticed a change in themselves. 

7. Kyuhyun - At Gwanghamun

Kyuhyun is one of the most proficient singers when it comes to delivering a stunning ballad number. “At Gwanghamun” is a song where Kyuhyun sings about a lover who looks at the leaves changing color while strolling around the Gwangahamun square in South Korea. Kyuhyun’s soulful singing elevates the tightly strung emotions in the lyrics.
