Day6 is one of the most popular Korean bands to date. They are a JYP Entertainment group which started off as six members, hence the name, but now there are only four members - Sungjin, Wonpil, YoungK and Dowoon. The group falls in the K-pop genre but they evolve beyond the realms of mainstream K-pop music by creating songs that are true to their identity.

Earlier this month, the band released their ninth EP titled Band Aid. This EP consists of eight tracks that delve into the complex human emotions and send a message of hope for love and healing. The EP’s title is a smart word play on the words ‘Band’ and ‘Aid’ where in Day6 (the band) would provide support (aid) to those seeking it. A band aid helps us heal from bodily wounds big and small, and the band takes that idea on a much more philosophical level.

In the concept photos for Day6’s EP Band Aid, we see the members dressed in either full black or full white clothing. The photos are mostly monochrome toned, with the only color being the member’s presence in the otherwise cold looking backdrop. The concept photos show members sitting alone surrounded by their instruments, or on a surface that seems rather hostile and calling for warmth. When they do look into the camera, it feels as if they are staring right at the viewer. These special concept photos exude the idea of the EP, which is to give love, hope and strength to a broken soul.

The concept photo for the title track “Meltdown” sports a vibrant dash of color as the band takes the stage to belt their latest musical number. A cohesive story is being narrated from start to finish for this EP. From the concept photos, the album art, to the music video, Day6’s Band Aid is a warm hug indeed.
