Watch the Moment: BLACKPINK's Lisa Wins Her Debut Solo Award at the 2022 MTV VMAs

On September 11, BLACKPINK's Lisa took home the Best K-Pop award at the MTV Video Music Awards for her hip-hop single "Rockstar," beating out strong contenders like Jung Kook's "SEVEN," NewJeans' "Super Shy," and Stray Kids' "Lock," among others. This marked her second time winning the award, as she previously claimed the title in 2022 for her solo track "LALISA," from her debut solo album of the same name.

At the 2022 MTV VMAs, Lisa performed alongside her BLACKPINK bandmates Jennie, Jisoo, and Rosé. When her name was announced as the winner, an emotional Lisa took to the stage, accompanied by her bandmates, as the audience cheered enthusiastically. She gave a brief but heartfelt thank-you speech, becoming the first K-pop soloist to win this prestigious award.

 

This year, Lisa attended the awards solo, without her bandmates, and delivered two dazzling performances of "Rockstar" and "New Woman," featuring Spanish singer Rosalía.
