Seo Eun Kwang: The K-pop embodiment of the 😛 emoji

BtoB is one of the most iconic groups, having debuted in the early 2010s. Since then, the group and its members have delivered one stellar performance after another and their members have made a lasting impact on the history of K-pop in more ways than one.

 

Even if you do not follow BtoB, most K-pop fans are familiar with the iconic “Why Sad? Give Up!” meme. The star of that meme is none other than BtoB’s leader and vocalist Seo Eun Kwang. The 33-year-old singer-actor originally made his solo debut right after debuting with BtoB in 2012.

Throughout his career, Seo Eun Kwang has made his own mark in the industry with his energetic performances and noteworthy appearances in reality TV shows. He has appeared on shows like SNL Korea and We Got Married. Seo Eun Kwang also made a stellar use of his talents through memorable performances in musicals like Hamlet, Goddess is Watching You, Three Musketeers and Barnum: The Great Showman.

Seo Eun Kwang’s persona is very jovial and humorous. He is known for his rough-cut English which often leads to a joke or two. He is very active in the media industry and has earned a great name for himself. His vocals are quite soothing to listen to, which makes his solo endeavors much more worthwhile to look forward to.

He was on a hiatus from August 2018 to April 2020 while serving his mandatory military enlistment. After his discharge from the military, he released his debut solo EP FoRest: Entrance in August 2020. In addition to being a noted star, he is also quite charitable. Over the years, he has made several donations to important causes like COVID-19 relief funds, Sokcho Fire relief funds, donations to children’s hospitals, etc. 

 

From 2012 to 2023, Seo Eun Kwang and other BtoB members were a part of Cube Entertainment. In 2020, Seo Eun Kwang was appointed as a director in Cube Entertainment. In 2023, BtoB parted ways with the label and Seo Eun Kwang stepped down from his director position as well. In February 2024, BtoB company was set up and it was announced that Seo Eun Kwang would continue his activities with the label.
