G.Soul: K-RnB for a dreamy landscape

著者: Nandini Iyengar

K-RnB music is something that has something for everyone. It is a genre of music that is still largely left undiscovered by fans. There is a lot for fans to indulge in the genre, they only need to dunk themselves first in the vast ocean of K-RnB first. Once you find an artist of your liking, there will be no turning back.

G.Soul is one of the singers you should have on your radar if you are looking to get into the K-RnB genre. He made his debut in 2015 with JYP Entertainment with an EP titled Coming Home. Since then, he has featured on several singles, K-drama soundtracks and also released additional EPs of his own. G.Soul’s voice is something straight out of a dreamy landscape. His low register singing adds a touch of depth to his already soulful renditions. The music he chooses for his songs sits just right for the emotions to flow smoothly in the ever flowing sea of interpretations.

G.Soul was initially a part of JYP Entertainment, and also one of the longest trainees of the company. Later, he joined H1GHR, where he stayed from 2017 to 2019 and then he went to Warner Music Korea where he stayed from 2019 to early 2023. While with H1GHR Music, he changed his stage name to Golden in 2019 but two years later in 2021, he announced via social media that he had changed his name back to G.Soul. As of April 2023, he has been working independently. He was also one of the participants on The Voice of Korea in 2020.

G.Soul’s latest release is the sultry smooth track “Window Pane.” The song was released in May 2024. It highlights his soulful vocals that are singing GenZ slang laced lyrics. Watch the music video for G.Soul’s latest single “Window Pane” here:
