Organized by KOFICE, and hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the K-Community Challenge is a part of an initiative to connect with Hallyu communities worldwide since its inception in 2019. The Challenge aims to promote the beauty of traditional Korean culture by providing instructional videos that allow international Hallyu fans to learn and share Korean traditions through their own recordings.

The previous year's Challenge attracted 142 teams from 46 nations, with entrants competing across four categories, including Joseon-pop, Korean percussion, Taekwonmu, and Hanbok. These submissions from global Hallyu communities displayed a unique blend of diverse cultures and characteristics, leading to a fresh interpretation of Korean culture.

This year's Challenge allows entrants to compete in four categories: Joseon-pop (fusion Korean music), Sogochum (hand-held drum dance), Taekwonmu (martial arts dance), and Hansik (Korean food). To appeal to more Hallyu fans, K-Traditional Talk videos will feature K-pop artists including K-pop groups SF9, BEBE, and EPEX. The Guide and Tutorial videos will be demonstrated by traditional culture experts Akdangwangchil (Joseon-pop), TAEKWONCRE (Taekwonmu), and the Biseul Dance Company (Sogochum). The filming locations were selected to feature both traditional and modern locations throughout Korea, such as Seonjeongneung, Namsan Park, Gimpo Hanok Village, and Seonyudo Park, so that viewers could enjoy the appeal of Korean culture.

The Challenge introduces Hansik as a new category to reflect its global popularity. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, this inclusion is aimed at offering Hallyu fans an opportunity to take on the challenge of making Hansik themselves, and also promoting the export of Korean agricultural products in the global market. In addition the Challenge also features an easy-to-join "Short-Form" Video Challenge to garner more attention.

The Challenge is open to all foreigners who love Korean culture, regardless of where they reside in. Details on how to participate and upcoming schedules can be found on the official website: www.kcommunityfestival.com.

Top winning teams from each category will be awarded with a trip to Korea, including an opportunity to perform on stage at the K-Community Festival on November 2nd (Sat.). The Festival will be livestreamed online, featuring K-artists from the Challenge such as SF9, BEBE, and EPEX, along with Korean traditional culture experts Akdangwangchil(ADG7), TAEKWONCRE, and the Biseul Dance Company. This event aims to provide a global audience interested in Korean culture with the opportunity to experience a diverse range of "K-Culture" and to promote a positive image of Korea.
