FXX OFF: ONE PACT returns with attitude

The South Korean boy band ONE PACT has released their comeback single album PARADOXX. Opening with a neo Romantic piano prelude, the lead single “FXX OFF” soon drops into a trap-infused club banger the color of red neon glowing against the darkest black. You can almost see the lights go out and the strobes start bumping at 1:10 when the melodic synth bass drops HARD. 

 

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see what word ONE PACT is trying to emulate with their clever title spelling, and the abrasive swagger required to deliver a statement like that is present throughout. You don’t want to mess with these guys. In fact, they’re so cool you want them on your side.

 

 

“FXX OFF” is paired with the equally swaggy “DEJAVU,” which serves as the followup track and a fitting companion. It’s a one-two-punch of braggadocious posturing, and it’s a fun ride. The single album closes with the dreamy/groovy ballad “PERIOD,” a strategic choice that shows ONE PACT can also deliver emotional depth as well as infectious flexes. 

 

Since its release on June 7, 2024, the single released by Armada Entertainment has amassed over 165,000 Spotify streams. It’s off to a great start, but time will tell if Jongwoo, Seongmin, Tag, and Yedam’s latest outing will match the success of their 2023 EP Moment.
