Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “island” by OhAn and Narae Lee

This is a breezy, beachy, dreamy number that feels like enjoying hammocks on the seaside at sunset, drinks in hand as you light the bonfire and flirt with your lover. The vocals are mysterious, floating along over filtered drums and round bass as the e-pianos jazz things up and sexy funk guitars drop the occasional, noodly fill.

 

Trumpets swell in and out underneath the tight vocal harmonies. The melody is smooth and lilts along with subtle but tasteful vocal turns spicing things up along the way. From start to finish, this is a polished, intentional production – painting atmosphere in broad, sonic strokes. “island” is the perfect name for this song, instilling reflection, relaxation, and romance.
