Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Feel the Soul” by Seo Taiji

I’m sure there are a few who would balk at the idea that nu-metal could be ‘catchy.’ For those who think such a description is impossible, I invite them to give “Feel the Soul” a listen. The track has all the classic stylings of nu-metal, including screams, harsh guitar tones, pseudo-rap, and so on. But the chorus is absolutely still an earworm up there with the poppiest of pop tracks. I can almost guarantee you the track will still be circling your brain for a while after hearing it the first time.

The song itself is a journey, as the songwriting take the listener through sections of quiet, ambience, noise, screaming, and even a fake-out ending. It’s a lot for such a short track, and there’s lots to enjoy, even if you’re not as much a fan of heavier music.
