Watch the Moment when Jeon Somi's father appears in a popular K-drama
Oleh Anwaya Mane

Have you ever heard of parents who gain as much (if not more) attention than their famous celebrity children? Well, that's exactly the case with K-pop star Jeon Somi and her father, Matthew Douma. A Dutch-Canadian, Mr. Matthew Douma leads a dual career as both an English educational consultant and an actor.
Yes, Jeon Somi’s father has some acting credits to his name, and fans of the hit K-drama Descendants of the Sun might recognize him. He plays the leader of the American armed forces in the second episode, where he gets into a confrontation with Song Joong Ki's character, Captain Yoo Shi Jin. At the time, Jeon Somi was a contestant on the survival show Produce 101, and fans were quick to spot the actor playing the American soldier, realizing it was none other than Somi’s father. They praised the family’s top-tier visuals, which certainly didn’t go unnoticed.

Jeon Somi, a solo artist signed under The Black Label, first made a name for herself by securing the top spot on Produce 101 and debuting with the project group I.O.I. After I.O.I.’s activities wrapped up, she continued her successful career as a soloist. Maybe one day, we’ll see Jeon Somi and her father share the screen together in a K-drama!
