Party for Min: Prime Time Release Party in NYC
Oleh Muse Salgado

Min, formerly of idol group Miss A, held a release party for her new EP titled Prime Time in New York City on her birthday, June 21. The release party was held at a cool loft venue that had two bars with drinks inspired by the tracks on the EP and a screen backdrop that featured the album art when it wasn't acting as a video screen. The vibes were chill as the venue filled up with friends and colleagues of Min, alongside fans of both Min and the rest of Miss A alike. And the hosts for the party were the delightful Chris and Chantelle of CCTV, who had the audience laughing and vibing the whole time.

For the uninitiated, release parties typically take place at smaller venues and are a bit like K-pop fanmeets but less structured. The artist will play the songs, sometimes as a performance, chat with the audience, and then will often mingle with the guests after—which tend to be a mix of friends, industry professionals, and fans.
Min's performances were absolutely fantastic. She hasn't missed a beat! Min and her dancers gave a stellar performance to “SHIMMY (SKIP)” right out the gate. Which was a fun and upbeat track to kick off the show. Followed by just Min and a microphone beautifully singing “M.A.W”. We also got to see a video montage of her grandmother in honor of the final track, “HAPPY PLANT (A Call from Grandma),” a phone call recording of Min and her grandmother discussing the blooming of the Happy Plant. The dancers joined her again for the performance of “PRIME TIME (featuring Lil Cherry)”, the title track. And we wrapped up with a Miss A throwback that had the audience pumped and ready to mingle with her after.

Min’s songs are full of optimism and empowerment, which was followed by her inspiring and motivating commentary between songs. Telling the audience that no one can take our spark from us and that now is our prime time—no matter what the haters might say—was an extremely touching and much needed sentiment in this industry. She was a gem both on and off stage and I recommend attending any shows she does in the future if you get the chance.
