LISA channels a sweet 90s retro charm in her latest single “Moonlit Floor”

BLACKPINK’s LISA is back with a new song and how! The rapstar whom we have known to deliver a stunning mix of hip-hop, rap, trap (and sometimes even rock) has made a comeback with a song that most would not have expected. 

 

“Moonlit Floor” was announced about a week ago with a teaser photo released by LISA. In the photo, we see LISA resting on a bed, wearing comfortable white colored clothing. There is an open book peeping out from where LISA is sleeping. On the wall behind the bed, we can see a bunch of graphic posters with icons of bright red lips. LISA looks lost in a sweet dream as her silhouette is awash in a soft and buttery golden light. 

 

The full song was released on October 4, 2024 and shows us LISA like never before. The song begins with LISA singing in such a sweet voice that it takes a moment to register that the baddie could also channel a saccharine coated vocal range. When with BLACKPINK and previously as a soloist, so far we have seen her appear in more edgier and hard hitting numbers. She would belt out rap verses with such a fire that she was often dubbed as a ‘rockstar’. 

 

LISA’s “Moonlit Floor” samples Sixpence None The Ricker’s track “Kiss Me” which was made popular after it’s inclusion in the movie She’s All That. Upon the song’s release, LISA took to Instagram to share a few words about a song that she grew up listening to and now has own version of. To those who grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s listening to Sixpence None The Ricker’s rendition, LISA’s version is sure to send a wave of nostalgia.

But there seems to be more! On October 6, LISA’s label LLOUD posted a teaser photo of what looks like a live performance of “Moonlit Floor” by LISA. We can see LISA standing on a stage, holding the mic stand and looking ahead. Her hair is tied in a wispy bun, and she is wearing a short feathery dress and a pair of shiny heels.
