Hwasa ‘Na’ - An ideology of “I, Me and Myself” wrapped in foot thumping beats

MAMAMOO’s Hwasa is one of the most versatile and strong female soloists of today’s times. As a group member and as a soloist, she has not been shy to present her truest self in all her performances. On September 19, Hwasa made a comeback with her second EP Na.

Na is Hwasa’s comeback after quite some time since her first EP Maria. Na is an exploration of self-love and a new sense of self entirely. In the concept photos, we see Hwasa dressed in modern chic clothing that exudes a sophisticated aura of a strong woman who does not need a man to make her feel nice. Na is a fun track from start to finish, even the hook steps are something that would bring anyone joy whether they are watching or recreating them.

Hwasa is seen in monochromatic themed clothing that stands stark in compliment to her honey almond skin. As she parades through the cobbled streets in the music video, we see the themes and color palette of the concept photos reflected in the entire backdrop. In the concept photos, she is seen wearing a brown two piece dress and miming smoking. Fans have been fawning over the photos and Hwasa’s new music since the announcement was made. Words and comments like “My Queen” and “We need stronger words than MOTHER” were peppered on Hwasa’s social media, indicating just how loved and appreciated her new avatar is. 

Formerly part of RBW Entertainment, Hwasa parted ways with the company and joined P Nation in 2023. Her signing with P Nation was no less than a spectacle. Shesigned live at a music festival. Psy came onto the stage and the two signed the contract. Hwasa has since worked towards reinventing herself and also incorporating the company’s idea that lets the artists explore their musical identities and attach themselves to it in a way they have been waiting to do.
