Daily Song Spotlight: “Broke My Heart (feat. Lay Bankz)” by KINO

Clocking in at a mere 1:51, this song by KINO fits so much into its short run time. KINO’s voice is so lackadaisical and effortless. It feels like he’s too cool to be on his own song, which is paradoxically alluring, especially since the song is incredibly well done. It manages to be swirly and relaxing despite the uptempo drums that seem to take inspiration from drum n bass and J-pop in equal measure. Lay Bankz doesn’t pull any punches either, delivering an equally cool feature. This was a pleasant surprise.
