There’s something magical that happens when you mix tradition with modernity in a way that uses the best parts of both perspectives. This is true in all aspects of life, but especially epic in music. Case in point, “Kkokdugaksi by Gostwind. Gostwind is a metal band from Korea that pulls a lot of influence from traditional music in both instrumentation and style. They use instruments like the haegeum to create one of the most distinct textures in all of metal.
There’s very little that sounds quite like this group, and that’s a huge compliment. As a fellow writer put it, the track is like 80s metal mixed with traditional Korean folk music and also Dragonforce solos.
