Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Hi Bully” by TOUCHED
Oleh TOUCHED

Sometimes you don’t need to do more than what you already know works. Arguably, the track “Hi Bully” is one of those moments. The Korean rock group TOUCHED buckle down and just give a solid rock track with a theatrical flair that makes it stand out from being just a generic slog. The track is riffy and relies on backing organs behind the thick layer of rock staples. When those organs do pop out (such as on the post-chorus group stabs), you can’t help but feel a sense of almost villainous grandeur.
The guitar solo is equal parts absurdly showy and fantastically fun, and there’s a sense throughout this whole track that it’s not meant to be taken tha seriously. It’s like watching a performance of The Phantom of the Opera by middle schoolers, except it actually sounds good. Just give it a listen, and don’t be too proud to admit later you have it stuck in your head.
