Who is 2AM?

2AM is a prominent South Korean boy band that emerged from JYP Entertainment's Mnet documentary Hot Blood. The documentary originally introduced them as part of the eleven-member group One Day. Contrary to their dance-focused labelmates 2PM, 2AM specialized in emotive ballads. Originally consisting of Jo Kwon, Lee Chang-min, Lim Seul-ong, and Jeong Jin-woon, the group gained recognition with their debut single "This Song" on July 11, 2008, marking their formal entry into the music scene. Their Japanese debut followed in January 2012 with "Never Let You Go: Shindemo Hanasanai".

2AM's success was underscored by multiple chart-topping releases in Korea. Their album I Was Wrong (2010) notably became their first to reach number one on the Gaon Album Chart, complemented by hit singles like "Can't Let You Go Even If I Die" (the Korean version of “Never Let You Go”) and "I Wonder If You Hurt Like Me", which dominated the Gaon Digital Chart. Their popularity extended to Japan, where singles consistently entered the Oricon Singles Chart top ten.

After their joint management with Big Hit Entertainment ended in 2014, 2AM members pursued solo careers amidst military service obligations, placing the group on hiatus. They reunited after seven years with the EP Ballad 21 F/W (2021), marking a poignant return to the limelight.

Post-contract shifts saw members like Seulong and Jinwoon transition to new agencies, affirming their commitment to individual growth while maintaining ties to 2AM. Jo Kwon's departure from JYP Entertainment in 2017 marked a pivotal moment, but the group persisted, affirming they hadn't disbanded despite individual pursuits. Their recent reunion announcement in 2021 signaled a new chapter, with preparations for a comeback EP featuring tracks penned by industry heavyweights like Bang Si-hyuk and Park Jin-young.
