G-Dragon's Charity Auction Raises Over $1.2 Million, Setting New Record

K-pop star G-Dragon’s enduring popularity and influence were on full display during the "Nothing But a 'G' Thang: The Art and Archive of G-Dragon" charity auction, held from September 2 to 10 through Joopiter, a digital auction platform founded by Pharrell Williams. The auction featured G-Dragon’s personal fashion items, art pieces, and memorabilia, drawing massive bids from fans and collectors alike.
The highlight of the auction was a multi-colored fur coat by luxury brand SAGA FURS, which G-Dragon wore during the 2014 MAMA and Big Bang's 2015 world tour. The initial bidding price of $12,000 skyrocketed to $81,000 within just 10 minutes and ultimately sold for an astounding $125,000 (about 167 million won).

Other notable items included G-Dragon’s 'Daisy Lapel Pin,' which fetched $112,500, and his Peaceminusone Nike Paranoise F&F sneakers, which sold for $95,000. A director's chair engraved with G-Dragon’s real name, 'Kwon Ji Yong,' was auctioned for $51,250, while a luxury belt inscribed with the phrase 'Kim Chaos Lover GD!' sold for $31,250.
Additionally, G-Dragon’s personal artwork was highly sought after, with several paintings selling for between $43,750 and $52,500. Altogether, the auction raised over $1.2 million, with all proceeds being donated to charity. The sale also set a new record for Joopiter auctions, further highlighting G-Dragon’s lasting influence and generosity.
