Daily Non-K-pop Spotlight: “Know You Did” by bongjeingan

 

We’ll start by being completely honest: this song isn’t for everyone. But it will delight a very, very specific subset of music enthusiasts. If you’re someone who loves process and duration and lives for long, intense builds with incredibly rewarding payoffs, this song might be for you. If you love tension born of trance-inducing melodic and rhythmic repetition, this song also might be for you. If you love weird tones that you’ve never heard before in other songs, including furious, choppy, glitchy, distorted synth solos, this song might also be for you.

 

 

If you like all three of those things, “Know You Did” by bongjeingan is DEFINITELY for you. This band is experimental, weird, and unashamed of what they do. They do it inventively. They do it well. It’s weird. It’s different. It’s fun. And even if you hate it, it’s worth experiencing at least once in your life simply for how nuts it is. 

 

The final act goes so hard and is way more metal than the first two acts would ever lead you to believe.
