In what feels like a Beatles-inspired romp through Korean indie soundscapes, “Festival” by playbook features walking, retro bass lines and psychedelic guitars. It also features some really clever harmonic progressions, introducing melodic chromaticism reminiscent of The Beatles at the height of their LSD-infused sonic explorations.
Kim Chunchu’s vocals are expertly layered, perfectly harmonized, and delivered in such a relaxed way that you can’t help but get swept up in the dreamy energy of it all. If playbook isn’t in your regular rotation, it’s time to change that. Enjoy.
