BTS’s SUGA to Be Summoned for Questioning After Incident Involving Electric Scooter

BTS member SUGA is set to be summoned for questioning by the police after an incident involving him driving an electric scooter while intoxicated. The police announced on August 15 that they are in the process of coordinating the investigation schedule to bring SUGA in for questioning. "Now all that's left is the summons investigation, and we are coordinating the schedule," a police representative explained.
The incident gained public attention after CCTV footage was released, showing SUGA riding an electric scooter and falling while navigating a sidewalk. The video captured him turning left into an apartment complex entrance, where he lost control and fell, with his helmet coming off in the process. Police officers who were patrolling the area noticed the smell of alcohol and conducted a breathalyzer test, revealing that SUGA’s blood alcohol content was over 0.2%, a level high enough to result in the revocation of a driver’s license.

According to the police, SUGA was riding a foldable electric scooter, which is classified as a motorized bicycle due to its top speed of 30 kilometers per hour. This classification means that operating the scooter while intoxicated is subject to criminal prosecution, a fact that the police emphasized in their statement. The serious nature of the offense has led to the ongoing investigation and the upcoming summons for SUGA.
There was additional speculation after JTBC reported CCTV footage showing a scooter being driven on a road near Nine One Hannam around the same time as the incident. However, after further investigation, the police confirmed that the individual seen in that footage was not SUGA. The focus remains on the original incident, with the police preparing to question the BTS member as part of their investigation.
