BLACKPINK's Lisa and Rosalía team up to define a novel girl code with "New Woman"

When two of the biggest female pop stars, one from the East and one from the West, come together to collaborate, they create something truly unique: a novel, fresh, and contemporary girl code titled "New Woman." Lisa, a Thai national and one-quarter of the K-pop sensation BLACKPINK, joined forces with Rosalía, the acclaimed Spanish artist, for their debut collaborative single "New Woman," released in August this year.
If "New Woman" were to be described with a string of adjectives, it would be characterized as sexy, edgy, empowering, and feminist. The song not only celebrates womanhood in all its powerful glory but also highlights two non-English-speaking artists who have jointly conceptualized and created this modern girl anthem. This release comes at a time when global fans are increasingly looking to women of color to lead the charge for change.

On a deeper level, the track can also be interpreted as a subtle dig at Lisa's critics and her former management. It signifies her breaking free, asserting her own agency, and writing the next chapter in the evolution of global pop, establishing herself as a formidable and influential force.
